Burning Man Shmurning man, this is going to be one of the best shows EVER. New Jersey’s own Screaming Females are playing with Montie for the Few and saying farewell to Royal Noble. I’m shaking in my boots with excitement. The Screaming Females is fuzz driven rock with vocals that will cut you in two, Montie for the Few is rock pop with members of Christian Brothers, and Royal Noble is sadly making this show their big goodbye, so don’t miss it. $5 8PM.
On September 12th Tera Melos is coming to The Holland Show Space at Rainshadow (121 Vesta st.) to shine waves of prettiness on all of the inhabitants of Reno. The soon to be prolific psychedelic math band will be joined by local hardcoreians Ghost Shirt Society and rockians Frendo. So The Holland Show Space at Rainshadow door at 7PM $5. On August 26, the HPHQ (30 Cheney St.) will be full of sweet soulful folk music of the highest caliber. Locals My Flag is on Fire and Royal Noble joining Oakland’s Winnie Byrd (a full-blown folk+country+indie hybrid with a wide cast of instruments). Don’t miss this. It’s the last time you’ll see Royal Noble in the acoustic form. 8pm sharp!
Local clay mastermind Michael Livernash will be displaying his miniature works of art at the HPHQ from August 30 to September 3rd. This exhibit is running for a short time so don’t slouch. Come in as soon as possible so you can bask in this glory straight from the kiln.
Don’t be turned off by this four band show, it’s punk. On August 27th skanking will be cool again at The Holland Show Space at Rainshadow (121 Vesta st.). Imperial is punk rock from the genius creator of Plan-it-X records and ex-member of Ghost Mice, Street Eaters is Oakland’s finest in, you guessed it, Punk Rock, Miracle Drugs are locals bad asses with members from Zoinks and The Juvinals, and The Firebombing is just good. Rock ‘n Roll will live again on August 22 with Hornet Leg, Orca Team, Thee Indoors, and Colors of the Universe. This is seriously gonna be one good ass show. Hornet Leg is “hella” Rock ‘n Roll on K Records, Orca Team is chilled out 60′s prom rock, Thee Indoors is the triumphant return of a local legend with a track record such as Young Lions and every good band ever, and Colors of the Universe is gonna be experimental as makeup monkeys and just as pretty to boot. Come all to The HPHQ on August 14th for Gladiators Eat Fire (Seattle) and The Iknows. Gladiators Eat Fire is a neo prog rock chewable tablet in the form of the Mars Volta and the Iknows are instrumental dance music with a proggy slant. This shows gonna be the bing bong biggity BOMB. 8PM, $5.
Wham Bam thank you mam this is gonna be one great show. At the Holland Show Space Reno we’re going to have beat making extraordinaire Frske playing what can only be called Drone Hop and The Count of Monte Gonzo making Hip Hop that leans toward the clever. On August 9th, the HPHQ will be more fun than country fried steak with The Molesters.NV and Water Bears (from St. Louis!). The Molesters.NV is good ole tunes with a sense of humor and Water Bears is pure country fun. Come down at 8PM with $5 in hand and have fun.
Monday August 2nd will be the most triumphant of days with Bay Area peace punkers Surrender and Reno rock ‘n roll pedalers The Humans. This is the first all-ages Humans show in a good while, so be sure not to miss this, HPHQ, 8PM, $5.
