Holland is an all-ages art and music initiative made for and by the
young people in Reno and beyond. Based on Seattle's successful Vera
Project, Holland strives to empower young people through access to
music, art, diverse workshop opportunities, and community service and
activism. Geared primarily toward teens ages 13-18, Holland hopes to
end the long-standing void for teens in this area by fostering
creativity and encouraging young people to challenge and engage
themselves and their peers. Run by young people, Holland will be a
place for people of all-ages to be entertained, empowered, and
involved. Holland seeks to shape Reno's future movers and shakers and
creative contenders.
The Holland Project exists at 265 Keystone Avenue and
opened it's doors in Spring of 2007. Currently, Holland friends and
family are transforming the space, raising money to start and sustain
the project, and securing donations in various shapes and sizes.
The name Holland is in homage to The Vera Club in the
Netherlands, one of the original all-volunteer music venues in
operation since the 70's. Holland's sister organization and the one
from which we are modeled, the ever-estimable Vera Project, is modeled
after the Dutch Vera.
Holland is sustained by it's Core Crew -- all young
artists, activists, students, business owners, and musicians working to
ensure Reno has a vibrant urban scene where art and music thrive, and
striving to re-define Reno as a place not just for adults. Holland also
has a Youth Board and a slew of dedicated volunteers that make this
project possible. To become a Holland warrior, please email
